What we do. We search federal, state, county and municipal records to identify the government office holding the funds and the specific record in your name, and we confirm the funds with that office. We research and gather the proof the office requires to establish that the funds belong to you, which may include address history, recorded documents, business filings, name changes, and corporate or estate records. We prepare the complete claim, including the required forms and supporting documents, for you to review and sign. Where the office has held the funds for less than three years, and you give us written permission when you sign the claim, we mail your signed claim to the office by certified mail at our cost and send you the tracking number. Where the funds have been held three years or more, or are already with the State, we send the completed claim to you with a prepaid envelope and you mail it yourself. We then check on its status with the office, under a release you sign, until the funds are released to you or the claim is decided.

Your claim stays yours. The claim is made in your own name and signed by you, and the funds are paid directly to you. We never receive, hold or endorse your refund. We are not your attorney, agent or representative, and you do not give us a power of attorney.

Our legal counsel. National Unclaimed Assets, LLC has its own legal counsel, who advises the company on complying with the law and with each office’s application requirements. Our counsel represents National Unclaimed Assets only. It does not represent you, and no attorney-client relationship is offered or exists between you and our counsel. We do not give legal or tax advice; if you want legal advice about your claim, consult your own attorney.

Our fee. 10% of the amount you actually receive, due within 15 days after you receive it. You pay nothing unless you receive the funds. Where the law of the state holding the funds sets a lower maximum fee, the lower fee applies. If you receive these funds within two years after signing, our 10% fee is owed whether the claim was made with our assistance or otherwise.

Who pays you. The government office holding the funds pays you directly, by check in your name or your company’s name. The money never passes through our hands.

What happens next. After you approve, we tell you which office holds the funds and the details of the record, and confirm the amount with that office.
