This notice covers the information you give us when you respond to a letter or use the form on this site, how we use it, how long we keep it, and what we will never ask you for.
When you approve our Recovery Agreement on this site, you give us the owner’s name, your name and title, your current mailing address, telephone and email, the amount if you enter it, your typed signature, and the date and time you approved. We also record the type of browser you used.
When you use the contact form, you give us your name, telephone or email, and your message.
If you call or write instead, we keep a note of the call or the message and what you told us in it.
Our web host records ordinary technical information about visits to this site, such as the date and the general location of the visit. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell advertising here.
From public records. Government property programs publish the names of owners whose property they hold, and federal, state, county and city offices publish surplus and refund registers. We work back to a current address through public filings including recorded deeds, business registrations, licensing records and court files.
Only to work on your claim. That means:
That is the whole list. We do not use your information to market anything else to you.
Inside this company, only the people working on your claim. Outside it, we share your information only with the county or state office holding your funds and only what the claim requires; with an attorney, if your claim needs one and you agree to it; with the vendors that run our email and electronic signature service, which handle it on our behalf; and where the law or a court requires it.
We do not sell your information, rent it, or trade it. We publish no lists of claims or claimants, and we do not tell anyone else that funds are held in your name.
We never ask for payment up front. We never ask for your bank account number, your card number, or your online banking login. We do not need your Social Security number or taxpayer identification number in order to speak with you — where a particular county’s claim form calls for one, we tell you, show you where it goes on the form, and you send that form yourself.
If anyone contacts you claiming to be from National Unclaimed Assets and asks you to send money or hand over bank details, it is not us. Call 888-887-5187.
We keep claim records while the claim is open, and for four years after it closes or after you tell us you are not interested, so that we can answer questions about what was filed. After that we delete them. If you ask us to stop contacting you, we keep only enough — your name and the fact that you asked — to be sure we honor it.
You can ask us at any time to stop contacting you by telephone, by email, or both; to tell you what we hold for you; to correct anything that is wrong; or to delete your information, except what we must keep to honor a do-not-contact request or to comply with the law.
Write to claims@nationalunclaimedassets.com or call 888-887-5187. We answer within ten business days.
Claim files are kept in access-controlled systems, and this site’s form is submitted over an encrypted connection. No system is perfect, but we limit who can see your file to the people working on it.
This site is for property and business owners. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
If we change this notice we will post the new version here and update the date above.
